Dr. Mun is a graduate of South Torrance High School and Yale University. Dr. Mun subsequently received his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1991 from Harvard Medical School. He completed his general surgery training at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, MA, a major teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School. After his residency training, he completed a fellowship in surgical research at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, also a part of the Harvard system. In addition, he is board certified in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). Dr. Mun is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), the American College of Surgeons (ACS), and the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). Prior to joining the Association of South Bay Surgeons in 2009, Dr. Mun practiced at Faulkner and Brigham & Women’s Hospitals in Boston, Massachusetts, and as the Director of Bariatric Surgery at Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates. While Dr. Mun practices all aspects of general surgery, he focuses on laparoscopic bariatric surgery, including the laparoscopic gastric bypass, LAP-BAND, and Realize Band.
