Dr. Ghanta was born in India and grew up in New Jersey since the age of 6. She majored in Biology and received her undergraduate degree at The Unversity of Pennsylvania in 1997. She then went on to obtain her medical degree in 2002. She completed a general surgery residency at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ in 2007 and is currently a Board Certified General Surgeon. Her interest in colon & rectal lead her to pursue further specialty training. Dr. Ghanta spent an additional year completing an ACMGE accredited colon & rectal surgery fellowship at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, FL in 2008.
Dr. Ghanta is a member of several medical societies, including American Medical Association (AMA), American Society of Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), American College of Surgeons (ACS), Association of Women Surgeons (AWS), and American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS). Dr. Ghanta moved to the West Coast and joined the Association of South Bay Surgeons in 2008. Her current interests are in general surgery procedures, as well as anorectal disorders and advanced laparoscopic colon and rectal procedures, for both benign and malignant processes. She also has training in performing colonoscopies and anorectal physiology testing for incontinence disorders. |
